It is a 'hack' of sorts, and given its in DEVELOPER options it should be considered EXPERIMENTAL at the very least.

When active double touch wake up screen and lock and put the mobile in the pocket, the screen is turned on in the pocket. Happens to Me since a few versions ago.

Installed this version on Mi MiNote 2.
I was still running a very stable beta version from 2017 (MIUI 8.6) , so it became time :)

1. All user App backup with Titanium Backup
2. TWRP backup of Boot, System and Data
3. Factory reset from within current MIUI
4. TWRP wipe Dalvik / ART Cache, Cache and Data
5. TWRP install ROM
6. First reboot took a lot of time - is normal
7. Download and install Magisk, root phone
8. Google Play Store reinstall Titanium Backup + license
9. Restore 280 apps - have some patience.. :)
10. Some apps crashed and doesn't seem to be compatible anymore. Have re-installed those from the Google Play Store.
11. Running smoothly now for 3 days - no issues

As I am using Nova Launcher no work on having to restructure maps or anything likes that. Home page and app drawer still looking the same as before. I only needed to reinstall the widgets. They were not working anymore.

This way of working is keeping the folders with stuff like WhatsApp Media and Picture folder with Camera photos. These are not in the Titanium Backup.

In case you see any way of improving this way of working for next time, let me know.

Had someday this problem too...
Helped wiping /data
I didn't find another solution
Try delete it again
