I gues you had a shop rom installed before and did not do a "format data" in twrp before flashing this ROM?
@ADMINS: maybe it would be good to adapt the description above and add "do a format data before first installation" as many users seem to have this as a cause for issues :)

I got the "google restore" option on the global stable, not on the xiaomi.eu rom.
Maybe because the xiaomi.eu rom is based on the china ROM, the google restore option is not implemented.
But the build in xiaomi backup and restore process is also working very well and worked perfectly for me every time ;)

as far as I can see there is a google backup & restore function on the EU rom. At least I used it ;)

Yes, there is the functions in the settings to backup, but if you install xiaomi.eu for the first time, or if you make a factory reset, the google restore never starts, instead starts the micloud restore (but google backup has also application data, so i don't have to restore settings or lost them).
Btw with adb and bmgr, the Google restore can be triggered manually.

I agree, I was looking for the restore via Google backup but couldn't find it anywhere. Same goes for forcing a backup, the only option is auto backup.

The same concerns to my Mi5. Options to restore or force Google backup have ever been absent. Maybe it is a MIUI problem..

so, if you want to force a complete Google backup you have to enable usb debugging in developer settings, than open a command prompt and write:

Code:
adb shell
bmgr run
bmgr backupnow appdata
bmgr backupnow --all

and a google backup will be forced (don't abuse, and let pass at least 24h, or your account can be blocked)

to force restore:

Code:
adb shell
bmgr list sets

  **_YOUR_BK_ID_**: YourDeviceName

bmgr restore **_YOUR_BK_ID_**

OK, thank you for this advice I didn't know that..

But now I just wondering - why there is no restore option during initial startup? I do have google backup copy and do not have any means provided by ROM itself to restore it?

Still no OTA on my Redmi 4X.
Clear all data for Updater already done, however it should not work like that, don't U think so!?
Just want let You know it is not working at all. 0_o

I flash the twrp and successful install the rom. But it always stuck in the interface of mix logo when boot up. My phone model is mix 2.

Anybody know why its not longer possible to update system apps from the chinese store? Not sure but think this is since update to miui10. Everytime it comes ignore failure when try to update

MI8 8.8.16 - Camera is always active and causes the battery drain, it's a bug.

The OTA updates come from sourceforge, you can try to download the files using

androidfilehost
or
miui.dedyk link

and then reboot into recovery and install update manually
hope this helps

Thanks @vermierdt.k for the response, I know where the update comes from and here I'm double-surprised:

The question is, if I have to download the update from some sites, what for is the Updater app and OTA feature?

Anyone know, will mix2s android pie come this weekend? Asking it, because i need to do format data, if it will come in this weekend, i will wait, but if not, then i do this now.

My mi mix 2 on 8.8.16 has severe battery
drain, rolled back to 8.8.9 and all is good. Tried everything but I'll hold off for 8.8.23

What are you trying to do exactly by installing Xiaomi Market? You think that you can update system apps AND keep all of the languages and modifications we've made to the built-in version, by installing a stock app? Please think before doing such nonsense.

For my MI 8, this rom dosn't show any icons for notifications on AOD.
On the Official global rom, i was able to see whatsapp and gmail notifications (but not sms), in this rom nothing at all, just the clock in AOD.
Is a bug or my fault (or something to enable in settings)?
