My MiMix2 lost 5G wifi signal after upgraded from 8.12.20 to 8.12.27.
only 2.4G access point showed in wifi list.

Yup, I successfully dirty flashed it. But i lost TWRP.

I had this issue in the morning and I solved it.

1. Download fastboot China rom. I used the dev rom from last week.
2. Install this rom with miflash without locking back your phone and without erasing your data.
3. After flashing restart Rom in recovery mode and install twrp. Then boot to twrp.
4. Copy eu rom from last week into a USB key.
5. Use USB otg to copy the rom to your internal storage
6. Install the rom, wipe cache and dalvik, then restart.

Everything should be fine.

Thanks @mpanasci I read your reply this morning and did the exact same thing (by trying) yesterday. It was the solution for this problem indeed and I managed to recover my phone again. Therefore I used the weekly from last week (.20).

Before trying with the weekly from last week I flashed the phone with this week (error) firmware (.27) but now with the latest TWRP. The result was the same and it was stuck in bootloop!! So all..be aware and don't take the risk of flashing the latest weekly on your MI 8 SE.

The question is...what the hell has happened? I hope the developers ( @ingbrzy )now what may caused this error and solve it for next release. It would also be good to pull back the latest release on the download sites .

You don't have any central pin password? should be this one. if any you press enter at the keyboard.

After flashing TWRP 1227 in this post on XDA I can access TWRP on Mi8 SE 8.12.27!

I only have the lock screen pin, but checked that the encrypt option is disabled, so no idea why it's reported as encrypted.

Its only for EU regions and only for Global Miui. But many regions still have 5Ghz Wifi and hotspot, example in China Miui rom because its on China Region.
And its for hotspot not for Wifi settings.

Go to this thread and download the fix by JiDanXV. The zip can be flash in TWRP. I had the same problem as well after a full clean wipe, clearing cache/data with a reboot after that also did not solve the problem. Hope this helps while the devs would take note about this issue.

I'm on 8.12.27 on poco f1 after clean flash.. It's impossible to add a Google account or start Google setup as play services keeps crashing and showing a black screen.. I did factory reset twice.. also file manager is still crashing

Have you install Android Webview apk before that?
I notice that for this version this time around, google play can be started without install Android Webview apk BUT you must not flash Magisk first. Also you can fix the file manager for now with the link I posted above. Hope it helps out.

Finally, I had to type nothing, I noticed a line when updating "successfully decrypted with default password" (whatever it was, I didn't encrypt my phone)

Its only for EU regions and only for Global Miui. But many regions still have 5Ghz Wifi and hotspot, example in China Miui rom because its on China Region.
And its for hotspot not for Wifi settings.

The changes made affect both 2.4GHz & 5GHz wifi, no idea why.

In last weeks EU when the wifi region was set to 'RU', that let my Mix1 use the lower frequencies for 5GHz hotspot as before, but it could not see 2.4GHz channels 12 & 13, for whatever reason.

When the wifi region is set to 'GB' as in this week's EU, you get somewhat different restrictions.

You have to try out which channels work for all your devices, set those in your routers, and thus cannot use the adaptive settings in your routers, as some devices will randomly not be able to connect.

It's all very ridiculous, imho, and makes you want to flash a previous version and stay with that.
