but with 20.18.11 I had 4g in the bar at the top, I haven't changed anything else. after what you say there should only be LTE with my provider
On Android 11 ROMs, the System UI component was updated by Xiaomi to the latest code-base.
On 20.11.18 and older ROMs, they were still using System UI component from 2019 even on Android 11.
This is the new design, so again, you might wanna contact Xiaomi if you feel the network type names are incorrect for your operator.

As I imagined. You need to format the Data partition. I hope you made a backup as formatting erases everything.

To return to the version prior to 20.12.2, you do not need to format or clear the cache.

Just perform the same procedure to update.

I did it on my RN8 and went back to version 20.11.25 and it was more stable and better than 20.12.2

As this is technically a downgrade, you should have run into problems. You are obviously lucky

im not able to install anything, or change anything / installing with otg stick not possible // changing the recovery to an older version not possible -> vol up + power goes everytime to fastboot. now using xiaomitool v2 and i was able to install twrp 3.4.2b and got write permission ... lets see if it works in a few minutes

The 3.4.0 TWRP that came with the ROM a few weeks ago is good to flash and keep in memory:
Download: 3.4.0 (LittleTurtle2333) TWRP - - [link updated]
fastboot flash recovery [TWRP-3.4.0-umi.img]

The TWRP that I use to install, I boot (not flash) each time with:
Download: 3.4.2b-0623 TWRP
fastboot boot [TWRP-3.4.2b-0623-umi.img]

Yes, in the wipe menu you have to select format and then confirm when prompted.

put the rom in a pen drive because you will delete everything.
I finally succeeded
After installation I turned off the phone and turned on (instead of restarting) now it is loaded on the MIUI screen

I did it
Still after installation coming back to recovery
Reboot to twrp
Tap on "wipe"
Tap on "format data" (bottom right)
Type "yes"
Hit enter key

If you tried to install magisk before getting the bootloop

Open rom zip and copy "boot.img" to your PC
Reboot device to fastboot(from twrp or using vol+ and power button)
Flash boot.img with "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
Then reboot device with "fastboot reboot"
Done!

Cheers!

C:\ADB>fastboot boot TWRP_umi.img (this is the 3.4.2b-0623 TWRP)
downloading 'boot.img'...
OKAY [ 2.832s]
booting...
FAILED (remote: Failed to load/authenticate boot image: Load Error)
finished. total time: 2.896s

If i install the recovery with the xiaomitool v2, it boots up fine... then i format the data and wipe everything, but the old 20.11.18 rom boots up. i dont get it

The first one should be flashed first, and be in memory, then you can boot with the second one.

Wipe Data = some errors = no write permission = Old rom stays in place /

Flashing with both recoverys = error 7 ....

Return to recovery and redo the formatting and installation procedure. In the end you have to restart the system and not turn off the device

Note: this is working with my Mi 10 (umi).
I would therefore suggest going back to your backup and get that working properly. Flash TWRP 3.4.0 into recovery memory ONLY (do not boot with it). Then boot into TWRP 3.4.2b-0623. There will be a delay before it loads up, and a further delay before you can input your pattern.
I have been using this method ever since the issues with cmi, lmi & umi were acknowledged with TWRP. And it has worked every time.

Below is a repeat of my post #443

I dont know any further... flashing the 20.11.18 firmware works without any problems. 20.12.02 gives me error 7 every time. tried with 3 different recoverys / wipe / without wipe / reboot / flashing & booting the recovery // i downloaded the rom from 4 different mirrors....
i stay now locked in 20.11.18.... waiting for the next rom or a new twrp? idk 5 hours of no success are enought now
