Hey guys, I'm unable to install Magisk on my Mi 9.
I'm using the official 3.3.1.0 TWRP for Mi9.
When I try to flash it, it says "Cannot mount /system".
If I try again (now /system is miraculously mounted...), it says "Unable to repack boot image!"
Am I doing something wrong?

Wipe - Format data - type 'yes'.
Don't go to Advanced Wipe Menu...

Found that option but still no luck!
Steps I did:
1st try)
* Factory reset (wiped dalvik, cache and data)
* Flashed MIUI EU rom
* Flashed TWRP
2nd try)
* Factory reset (wiped dalvik, cache and data)
* Formatted data (option requires acknowledgement by typing "yes")
* Flashed MIUI EU rom
* Flashed TWRP
3rd try)
* Factory reset (wiped dalvik, cache and data)
* Formatted data (option requires acknowledgement by typing "yes")
* Flashed MIUI 11 stock rom
* Flashed MIUI EU rom
* Flashed TWRP
4th try)

No, that doesn't work. The "is displayed over" notification cannot be permanently removed or inactivated. It is disputable whether this counts as a bug or a feature, but it is certainly s-h-i-t-t-y af. The only way I found to suppress the notification is with NCleaner.
Yes, that's what happens in this ROM. Go back to the version before and live with the bugs that version had, or live with the current version for a week and hope for a fix on Friday. It's beta software after all, and sometimes this shows its ugly face. We choose to live on the edge, don't we?

Not sure about your device, but what I do on my Mi9 is:
- Format data with yes in TWRP
- Flash xiaomi.eu rom
- Flash Magisk (optional)
- Wipe dalvik and cache
- Reboot to system

Normally you go to TWRP, format data (type 'yes'), then flash ROM.
Afterwards reboot.
No need to reflash TWRP
I've tried rolling back to a previous version but after flashing it would always boot into TWRP, I had to reflash the latest beta to get it to boot into the OS. Anything special I need to do to roll back?

Flashed latest stock rom with mi flash tool then did the exact same steps as MXXXT.
Still no luck.
Does it have to do with the fact that I was already on Android 10 before unlocking bootloader?

Make sure its the latest twrp thats compatible with android 10,and remove all magisk modules and any other mods

Did that twrp work once even. remove magisk and any other mods, format data,then flash,then wipe cache and dalvik, reboot

I've never put mods on it and tried to flash doing these exact same steps.
I just downgraded to the stock MIUI 10 and I'll try to follow the steps you mentioned.

Idk why, but problem (in my case) seems to be with this rom version.
Flashing the latest stable rom works.
I even tried to update to this version from the latest stable one but no luck.
Guess I'll stick to the stable one =/

Ehm, I suppose flashing stock will re-encrypt data, therefore after format, copy Rom to device, flash from within twrp, reboot.
Do not use any Xiaomi tools!
Once it's booted, take it from there (magisk et cetera)

I tried these steps a few times but had no luck.
I'll wait until future releases, I'll stay in the MIUI EU stable for now
why flashing twrp is the last step instead of flashing eu rom? how can you flash eu rom if you dont have twrp in the first place? lol...
just flash your twrp 2 times.... in fastboot mode, flash twrp then reboot to twrp, then copy the twrp in your phone using computer/laptop then in twrp install again the twrp...
and this is done first before flashing eu rom...
flash eu rom is the last step..
I also did this.
But that's not the point...
My concern is not about flashing twrp or how many times it was flashed. The problem is being stuck in fastboot mode after flashing this rom version

The screen fades out when you turn it off, there is no switch for it, it's always enabled.
Might be a new change by Xiaomi, will investigate this issue...
