I understand it in 100% and I don't blame You. ;)
I'm just wondering, if the 7.1 is no longer supported, why xiaomi can't upgrade Redmi 4x (and probably others) to oreo or maybe pie? Following the Internet it is powerful enough to work on it. ;)
It seems they just want get rid of it to force us to buy new phones... I won't in the near future. ;P
Xiaomi aren't the only one abandoning the Android version of their devices. That's just the nature of business.

I have noticed that there are a few small feature differences between the Mi8 and the Mi8 Pro builds. For example on my Mi8 I can change the Font thickness and on my Mi8 Pro that option is not available and I have much more features in Game turbo (like sensitivity, and safe zones) on my Mi8 .
Here is a screenshot as a proof (left picture is Mi8 Pro, right is Mi8).

Mi 8's ROM was released a few days after. We fixed fonts and added font weight since then. Other devices will enjoy the fixes (including the lag on certain devices that we fixed today) in the next release, unless we decide to re-release all ROMs since there are holidays in China this week.

Installed on mi5, the problems I found so far are:
  • Quick reply: WhatsApp is not present
  • Google calendar is not synchronizing, and with a Microsoft account you can't even view the option for synchronizing the calendar
  • You can't search from the browser omnibox, it only loads the about:blank page
Thanks @Igor Eisberg

Ok I resolved the third issue: the default search engine is not configured by default. You have to set it from the browsers settings.

Fantastic upgrade on my Redmi Note 7, it's definitely more fluid. Battery life looks the same. No problems with magisk. I recommend others to upgrade.

Is a shame we should recive the same things if we don't have AMOLED

It's not the same display technology... AMOLED display will power on only the used pixels, all black pixels are off, battery consumption is very low. On a LCD screen to display the same, the whole screen must be ON all the time, it's not possible otherwise the battery would last only a few hours...

It's just a different screen technology and if a phone with lcd screen use always on display (it can be done with custom ROMs) it will kill the battery cause the back light will be constantly on. With the amoled screens only the pixels that show what it has to be shown light up and the rest remains black (still consumes more battery than if aod was off of course)

I would love that if you guys could re-release the ROMs for addressing the lag issues that are very annoying sometimes.
I'm on Mi 9T and, apart from some 'Android System' battery drain and these lags, everything seems to work just fine.

Thanks for your work!

Hello,

Thanks Team for fast releasing MIUI 11 (Y)

MIMIX2 - MIUI 10 GLOBAL 9.6.27 ,

1- Should i clean install eu version or dirty flash ?
2- Does the EU Rom have google apps installed ???

Kindly walk me through what should i do as i am newbie and last time i tried to flash custom ROM ended in boot loop and encryption of all my data (Formatted my whole phone then).

I did this when I was on miui 10 and until now it's working even after the updates
I didn't applied any fix or patch
Doesnt matter if you have Magisk installed just follow this in the same order

1) Boot into TWRP, delete "/data/data/com.google.android.gms/"
2) Boot to System
3) Delete GPay App Data (Cache & Data)
4) Start Gpay Once an close it right now, without adding or changing something
5) Boot into TWRP
6) check the name of Folder inside "/data/data/com.google.android.gms/app_dg_cache", only one should be here but I found 2 folders so ordering by date the list I left the older one and deleted the other folder
7) Boot to System
8) Download the SafetyNet App from the play store, and run the test should be green and no errors
9) Boot into TWRP, now there are 2 Folders in "/data/data/com.google.android.gms"
10) delete "/data/data/com.google.android.gms/", the other Folder should stay untouched
11) now in the same folder "/data/data/com.google.android.gms/app_dg_cache" press the folder with the tick in it and run CHMOD after that replace the 0000 with 0551 and thats all
12) Reboot to System and set up GPay dont forget when youre gonna pay to change the option with HCE WALLET
New update, I did it again and it works! I was in the wrong folder when I did the chmod 0551 first time :)

Thanks!

What was the cause of the lags ? I'm just interested.
I don't know for the others, but it'd be cool if you could re-release the ROMs, I liked MIUI 11 but had to rollback because of lags

Hi, one question.
I come from MIUI 10.5 (9.7.25). Can I install this one over the current I have right now, as an update?

Note(1): If all goes well, I would perform a clean installation.
Note(2): My device, Redmi Note 7 (lavender).

not for me, dual apps are working fine.

(wiped system, cache and dalivik&cache before upgraded from 9.9.6 in twrp)

I'm not sure if it has to be with the device or different model inside the same device, but I've tried twice on my Mi 9, both clean flashes and as soon as I launch dual apps, the phone starts creating the second app and then reboots. I'm not sure what more to check, but from my point of view, over a clean installation I could say dual apps are broken in Mi 9 (not sure if all versions).

Maybe it's hacked somehow to show it? Dude, believe us, you really want your battery to last 8 hours WITHOUT even using your phone? LCD display is not ment to be always on.
