But my lockscreen pasword is just letters ... so my phone is effectively bricked (wiping data in twrp did nothing to solve the problem). What can I do? Will there be another rom today for whyred with this bug (no letters on the keyboard) removed... nobody ever said that the passwords should be numbers only!?
If you have a backup, go back to that and remove all your security protections. Then there will be no password question in twrp. Flash new ROM from there.

hace poco he instalado la última ROM de xiaomi.eu (bootloader desbloqueado y root mediante Magisk) y resulta que no puedo enviar adjuntos (fotos, pdf, etc) mediante el Whatsapp. El mensaje que me muestra es simplemente el de reintentar. Tengo todos los permisos activados, he probado a reinstalar, me pasa tanto en wifi como en datos (por lo que tiene que ser de la app) y por contra desde Telegram no tengo ningún problema.
Añadir que desde MIUI 10 (última versión, pie) me funcionaba perfectamente y no me metí tanto en los permisos, salvo lo de restringir la batería y las notificaciones.
Simplemente quería saber si a alguien más le pasa porque es la primera vez que me sucede algo similar en todos los teléfonos que he tenido, es decir, que me suelo leer bien las cosas, instalaciones y demás y nunca he tenido problemas del tipo no activar esto o lo otro pero ahora ya dudo

PD: sigo teniendo algunos problemillas con la SD porque puedo acceder a ella sin problema, guardar y leer pero desde alguna app en concreto no puedo pero supongo que será por la app en especial
I found the problem.It was the app AdAway with a list of host in particulary
I did a dirty flash...I did the update 9.3.25 on whyred. All running fine so far. My security update is in the future: 2019-04-05...
After the update my SD card was shown as damaged and I couldn't access it anymore. So I had to make a backup with the PC and restore it after formatting the card in the phone. Card is fine again.
Other than that I have no problems so far. Battery life seems a little bit better than before

Try to download a custom rom what so ever and install. Make sure that you remove all your security settings in that rom. Then enter twrp and see if you get in without password.
If that doesn't work I'm afraid that the only solution is to format data in twrp. But then ALL your internal data will be lost.
...Or not.Simple Kernel 2.95 seems to improve the nasty standby drain on MI 8 9.3.21 and previous!
Once again the massive standby drain is back with a vengeance on day 2.

I confirm that with 9.3.25 whyred twrp asks password and not accept it (I have only numbers). But turning back by tapping on "cancel" button works normally except for the internal storage; also wipe dalvik&cache works and flash zip (I flashed magisk). Twrp 3.2

Few pages after releasing this rom for whyred I still don't know if it's worth installing. Some bugs, twrp problems, bootloops and, most important, antirollback protection so there is no way to make a step back.
Is there anyone with whyred working fine after smooth install?
