yes use twrp3.2.1 raupe, success flash oreo 8.0 will inform if any bug. thanks for help.

2. The TWRP you point to is for Lineage, by blunden based on raupes work?
Raupe seems to have given up on lithium.
I have raupes latest which works fine with EU weekly 8.2.1, but . . .

2. the TWRP I pointed is for roms that are oreo based and it doesnt have the touch issue. use it to flash this oreo rom it worked for me
In general the 8.0 rom for MIX is very stable just a few bugs cause its the first oreo rom for mix and beta
all the android 8.0 features work fine. (for example Picture in Picture works perfectly fine)

1. download twrp see in extra file

2. udpate your twrp
3. wipe your data ( i wipe everthing for my mi mix )
4. copy and flash oreo 8.0
5. reboot
after try look like oreo 8.0 not compatible to my ssd boost apps

practically did you upgrade as if it were a simple update? just clean cache dalvik and restart?
Actually Notification snoozing doesnt work (it doesnt even appear / exist in here)
so not every 8.0 feature is there but most of them.

So far all OK on Mi 5s. Will give it a couple of charging cycles before we can see if the horrible battery drain has gone.

use advance wipe, clean all include data and internal storage.I still no try with my 1st phone, maybe after try on my 2nd phone ok and stable will backup my 1st phone and direct upgrade without clean everything and see how.
