Hi I am on 7.1.20 version for Mi5s, can I dirty flash this new version over or I must have to do a clean install and recover all apps again?

After a few attempts I finally managed to install the modified version (7.2.9) on my MI Note Pro (leo).
First attempt the phone froze on the miui logo and refused to boot.

On the second attempt with the first version of the rom, the phone had very serious battery draining issues.

But the reuploaded (modified) version that I installed afterwards seems to be ok.

To resolve the frozen phone issue and install the 7.2.9 ROM:

1. From this post I followed steps Q16 and Q17.
2. Afterwards following step Q15 I installed 6.12.22 Rom.
3. I took a MIUI cloud backup and after that i updated to 7.2.9 (clean install) and restored from MIUI cloud.

I can't enter TWRP as it seems that a new version compatible to Nougat is needed but the phone seems smooth. The phone does not seem to have significant battery drain issues. So far I am quite happy with this version.

Mi Note Pro battery drains drastically. For last 5 hours I discharge my phone for the second time and need to plug the charger. 50% of battery use is for "Android system". With 6.12.22 I was able to use my phone for 10-11 hours.

They reuploaded the ROM with a fix. Try reflashing

I have found a workaround for the TWRP issue. I used it to flash the fixed version of this Rom. https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/cannot-flash-twrp-in-7-2-9.38269/

yay, Android 7 is running on my Mi-4c

- Made a full backup with twrp
- Made MI backup for contacts etc.
- Made manual backup of foto's etc.
- Flashed new ROM without wipe.
- No heating, no battery drain, so far so good

Of course they will. It has to be locked. For further updates you need to unlock bl. End of topic.

Exactly the same problem with my Mi-4c​

First, you flash the ROM by updater method.
Second, If you have permission from xiaomi to unlock the bootloader, then you have to use miunlock, the link is on the first page.
Third, download this twrp, for mi4c, mi4s, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByP6S_Z3vDjWY1hhdFhfdnhvVVU/view
And you must install it in adb mode
fastboot flash recovery recovery-TWRP-3030.img
fastboot boot recovery-TWRP-3030.img

You can use TWRP 3.0.3-0 for Mi4c.

So far the only thing i notice is the same 3 and 4 core disabled and maximum freq at 1.6Ghz. Mi5 64 GB

I root my Mi5 and used setcpu and kernel toolkit to grab more info about the cores and found that if I turn off Miui optimization on debugger options they are working after all. See the pics.

It MIUI tools you should fine updater and from that three point at the right and up corner you should push "choose update package" and then locate the ROM file you have downloaded before.

I installed this update on Mi5s, and 3d touch don´t works for me. It´s enabled, but with long press the icon change to move, like usual. Anything more to activate for it works?

I just flashed the reuploaded ROM for mi4c.

Previously I installed the TWRP 3030 via ADB sucessfully.
Then went to the update app in my phone and selected the reuploaded ROM for mi4c.
The phone rebooted at recovery but it was doing nothing so I selected to flash the .zip package again.
Apparently everything went okay after some 4-6 minutes stucked on the MI logo (I was panicking yes...)
So now I don't know if I got the good 7.2.9 ROM or the old one, got my bootloader locked again too?
Still only 4 of the 6 CPUs are running but the CPU load is way lower than before the flash. 60-80% before 5-20% after.
