Not a lot this week. Work towards MIUI v5 continues.

• Optimization of converting themes to the new format.
  • There will be a progress bar while converting old themes to the new format. Batch convert will be processed on the other page and won’t influence others operations of the Theme Manager. You will be able to see how the converting goes and use the converted theme immediately afterwards
• Reduced the volume of notifications during a call

with V5 comes new devices.......like the JUICE!!!!!!!!! oh no, that's V8. Hmmmm I guess we might get there also someday tho.....

This is not a miui issue, it is a jelly bean issue, dueto depreciated root access....

there is an easy fix, which is to convert your chosen launcher to a system app ( download titanium backup, open it, long press on your launcher and choose convert to system app)

this will allow placing widgets to function as normal on jelly bean roms.....

Correct, and when using the MIUI home launcher, there are no issues.

BUT

If like myself, and others, you prefer the benefits of a 3rd party launcher, like nova or apex etc. Jelly bean Broke them, by restricting their ability to place widgets on their homescreens.

So, as I stated, the fix is not going to come from MIUI developers, instead either the launcher developers will find a work around for Jellybean, or Just convert your chosen launcher (ie nova, apex etc.) into a system app, and enjoy JB MIUI with your choice of fully functioning launcher.

*** Just remember to backup your launcher each week before updating, then restore it after flashing the weekly update, as flashing the new weekly version will erase any system apps not included in the new rom....
