As VRoot does not work with V5.0,
try to root by flashing via recovery with zip file from here:
http://en.miui.com/thread-13293-1-2.html
MobileUncle link is in the first post, CWM you can also take from there or use TWRP (some posts before this one) and install with MobileUncle tools.

I've read hundreds of posts already,but didn't find a solution,so my simple question is:
is there a way to root the last official v.5 ROM(eng-chi)?
from what I read,I see that this way: http://en.miui.com/thread-13293-1-1.html
only works for those with unofficial multi v.5 roms and didn't work for me.
Is there someone that did it this way,with official v.5?
I'm on last official v.5(eng-chi) with 3e recovery(this was intalled by flashing the official rom)

I made the same research and came with the conclusion that the only way to root en/cn official stable is to flash the multi version..this sucks..

I do boot in 2 way recovery mode : recovery with CWM and MIUI Recovery but said install failed ...? any way to instaling stable V5 MIUI rom?
Mmmh, I finally also succeeded only with an "unofficial" multi v5.0 from MIUI Germany which was pre-rooted (http://miui-germany.de/wp/?page_id=274#). This contains Chinese, English and German language only.
Another try would be to check with TWRP recovery (http://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/twrp-recovery-can-be-installed-with-stock-or-cwm-recovery.23316) but I did not try this out because I am happy with my working rooted V5.0

When I receive my phone I also tried to install that rom, with stock recovery and CWM but without success.
End up installing the miuiandroid version that's is this Rom with mulltilang pack. Easy solved.
Regarding rooting procedure, if you look on this thread you will find answer for this many times

Yep. T stands for Turbo in MT6589T processor. All Hongmi's have it. It is clocked at 1500MHz. There is also MT6589 version which is clocked at 1200MHz and used by some other cheap chinese phone models/makers.
And do not worry about revision. It is not number of cores, but something like version of that chip.
Try also CPU-Z, which also displays T in CPU name I think.

Hi, I also got my red rice from merimobiles and had the same issue with the Roms etc. Did you manage to root the official ROM? If so how? Also which recovery do you have because when I install the official ROM I end up having the android system recovery 3e instead of cwm.

I just downloaded the stable version because aparently was repacked with PT-PT language, tired to install just doing the wipe cach and davilk and always get an error message:
(status 7) instalation aborted
The version I have is the, miuiandroid v5.0, before repacked with PT-PT language.

Which recovery are you using for Installation?
What is displayed in recovery as "Show log" after aborted?
Could be that you need to go back to original recovery....
