What is the image quality of 13 Megapixel camera of M2s?

The shots taken in outside , in macro mode , in low light conditions , and in the dark conditions with automatic flashlight.

And if you can find some comparison between the two phones. Thanks in advance!

The increment in megapixels is less important now. It is how good the camera sensor is various scenarios.

Yeah! I know that but I want to see samples of the new sensor in M2s. I can't find any photos on the web. For the M2 only there are a lot of , but for the newer model there aren't any.

I heard that the M2s has newer and more modern sensor. The photos from M2 was spectacular at almost any condition including the dark scenes and some low light shots.

Only had mine for a few days but the picture quality is very good and the camera is fast and responsive. I have a galaxy s3 and I would say image quality is at least as good, maybe better

Yes! But compared to the previous one - Mi-2's one with 8 MP. What can you say about it?
I really want to see the comparison between Mi-2 and Mi-2s. :)

Hello guys, here are some samples of the Image Quality. I made them with this settings:
ISO:Auto
Wite Balance: Auto
Picture Size: 13M(4208x3120)
Picture Quality: Super fine
You can change Sharpeness level from 0 > 6... contrast, saturation and so on, I let this setting as default.

To be honest, I'm really impressed with the quality in sharpness of the Mi2 as well. Especially while having F/2.0 lens which have a wider horizon to the galaxy S3.

Yeah! The images are really cool and awesome. The difference between the two ones are minimal. The 32 GB is logically better. But even 16 snaps the same as the new flagship models.

I have a question. Is autofocus fast enough , when capture a photo? Cause in the Mi-2 lot of people complained about slow autofocusing especially in the night. Yeah , I know that almost every phone has this kind of problem in the dark. Even for 808 Pure View , Lumia 920 and One is difficult sometimes to capture a good photo at night.

Can you post the original shots please? These are not 13M, they are 2044x1516 (8M). Thanks!

megapixel count makes no difference, its just size. You have to compare quality with the same amount of mpx to see a real difference.

You can only do a fair comparison if you take the same picture at 13 and 8 megapixel size. What's the point in comparing my picture of a dog with your picture of a cat? IMO, posting the full res shots would have been preferable since he is not comparing them anyway.

Hey Cinner here are the pictures again in original resolution, seems that the other image upload website reduce the resolution automaticly. I can only compare the photos with my Meizu MX (8MP), below this pictures you can see a comparison.

The pictures are really big, and one picture is above 10 MB so I can't upload it...

I have tested the camera a lot and I have to say the camera is really good, but I don't like some things:
- macro mode is not so good as the Meizu MX one. It is hard to autofocus very closed objects.
Meizu MX (8MP):
1. http://www.upload-pictures.de/bild.php/32028,p30524193015A0CMP.jpg
2. http://www.upload-pictures.de/bild.php/32024,p305241740364R3D5.jpg
Xiaomi Mi2S (13MP):
1. http://www.upload-pictures.de/bild.php/32027,img201305241931133Q5NJ.jpg
2. http://www.upload-pictures.de/bild.php/32025,img20130524173943VQXW5.jpg

The autofocus is slower than Mx one.

I have another issue with the camera. I shot a lot of photos and some photos 3-4 had this kind of pixle noise in the lower part of the image:

What do you think? Could it be a hardware issue?

Again, megapixels are only SIZE, not quality. You can have a 40mpx camera that sucks and a 2mpx with amazing quality shots. If you want to compare real CAMERA LENS QUALITY you have to take the shots with same size.

Its making focus in the corners and top and not in the center were you have the object.
In the shot of the rock you can see that the focus is up center, thats why we see your Meizu clearly but the rock blurry.
In the bug (worm?) shot the focus is at the top left/center/right.
Looks like its not correctly calibrated, but i dont know if its hardware or software.
You can try with other camera app or another version of MIUI.

I agree with 3volts,
MPX is like the size of a canvas where you can paint, it can be as large as a billboard or as small as A4 bond paper,
although the quality of the image depends on how good is the painter of the artist which in this case is the quality of camera sensor.

that's why the quality of an image from 13mpx SLR camera is superior to a 13mpx cam from a mobile phone.

I've read a few places that the 16GB Mi2S has a minimum F-stop of 2.0, while the 32GB version is 2.2? Checking the EXIF on the full resolution 13MP images above, I see a lot of them are taken with F 2.22 (assuming that's even recorded properly).

In MIUI, is there a way to manually adjust the DOF/F-stop? For the people who don't know what I'm talking about, this is helpful.

With MI2 you can change exposure between -2 and +2 in presets (-2 . -1 . 0 . +1 . +2), but you can't set manually to whatever F you like. I think that in MI2S 16 or 32 MIUI its the same no matter.
