The first time I received an update at Mi Home. When I entered the Mi Home application, I saw that an update for the heater appears. I did that update. It's still not clear if everything works. I'll come up with details in the next few days.

Some observations:

Firmware 2.0.8.0005 indeed makes the heater turn off completely when the required temperature is reached. (Region - Russia)

However, the internal sensor still shows the temperature several degrees lower than it should be. This behavior seems to be an outcome of the bad sensor placement rather than a software issue. Too close to the cold floor! Since the sensor is almost external, you can find it at the bottom, under the area with buttons, its readings can be "corrected" by covering it. For example, a puffy woolen sock placed between a floor and the sensor warms it up enough to show almost the correct temperature.

I can confirm the FW update in the case of the German region (used in Hungary)!
(it popped up a few hours ago)

Experienced the same difference between the measured temperatures in the case when the heater works or it's turned off.
I'll try to "play" with the sensor as @rororo mentioned it, however, this is definitely progress about the original issue.

HI i did actually move the sensor. it was absolutley better and the heater now runs a bit calmer and not full effect all the time.

Hi, i voided the warranty of course and started with putting that just above the panel. i have another i will try to put it below the panel to see the differences.
but i can already say that it runs on lower effects. and before my kid could burn himself on the cover. even indoors in a warm haous.

Hello @TomTom66,
How did you manage to move the sensor?

Thanks, @TomTom66!
Before I managed to disassemble the heater I'll try to create some kind of thermal insulation using a piece of polystyrene or something.

Got the update and all keeps the same.maybe worst
Have a smart plug and have been monitoring it for the past day.

before, I got the internal temp way above real temperature (measured with a xiaomi sensor), like room at 22 and heater saying 26! Even so it wouldn’t cut of the power .

Now it gives 2 or 3 degrees below the sensor! Not powering totally off still keeping the 900watt minimum power and increasing to 2200 more often do to the lower temperature!

already tried to return it but the store is terrible, Castro electrónica- tugas não comprem lá. And my electrical bill is huge because of this heater.

Hello All,

I have a few functionally related questions about the Smart Space Heater S that I was hoping you might be able to help me with.

I purchased 2 pcs of this heater yesterday in the Official Xiaomi shop, Debrecen, Hungary (230V; EU plug).
I set up the heaters in the Xiaomi Home app successfully and start using them.
During the operation, I discovered several & similar malfunctions in the case of both heaters. Based on the product datasheet, I believe those aren’t normal and expected.
These malfunctions do not depend on the way how I’m using/operating the heaters (by application or by manually).

1, The heaters do not switch off when reaching the setup temperature in the constant temp mode. They still operate with a ~800W power (I measured the power consumption with a smart plug) without decreasing it or turn off.
I stopped them manually when the tested room temperature reached 28 celsius. It seems the digital thermometer or the regulator circuit does not work properly.

2, When I turn off & on the heater it starts working with the highest power ~2000W regardless of the set temperature. If I modify the constant temp, it will switch back again to ~800W and stay there until I power it off manually.

I believe these unexpected habits have to be fixed somehow because it can cause fire, therefore in this state the products are dangerous! In addition, it does not make any sense the six different temperature ranges and a lot of other features. I also found comments on different social platforms (Youtube, Facebook) where the users experienced the same issues.

Do you know or experienced similar issues with Smart Space Heater S?
Is there any chance to fix these somehow (a firmware upgrade or a component level repair)?

I’m asking this because those functions were the main reasons why I bought these products. To be honest, without them, this will be only a (dangerous) stock heater and for this price, a much better and safer one can be purchased from another manufacturer.
Thanks in advance!
Hi, I had the similar problem. Room temp was 22 and the heater was set on 18. But it was still heating...problem was a very cold tiled floor. The temp sensor is located on the bottom of the heater and was reading the floor temp. You can place a towel or something else underneath the heater to avoid this. Than probably the problem is solved. ( Hopefully )

RMA-ed mine about 3 weeks ago. "The manufacturer coundn't repair, nor replace the product" so i got a refund. (Hungary)

Hi Guys. I've also update my heater. Didn't have yet time to test and measure temperatures after the update.
Will give feedback once I get to make some troubleshooting again.

Same problem here. The update shows, i push "upgrade now", says "downloading 0%" for one or two seconds, and then does nothing.

I've tried a different region with the same result.

Same here.
My default region is Portugal and I already tried with different regions, like Germany, Chinese Mainland, etc. and I'm not able to get the firmware to update.

Hi guys, today there was an update to the Mi Home app on App Store (not sure about play store) and I was able to update the heater to the latest firmware (2.0.8.0005).

I've just successfully installed last firmware. I've unplugged the device (by chance), when i've plugged again, and the app has recognized the device, it has shown the message of available update, but this time it has begun the download, then install, and now the device is in the last firmware version.

In my house I have Norwegian heaters which are perfectly good working for two years. When I find out that xiaomi have this cheap heaters I was thrilled and immediately bought few peaces for my weekend house. After I found out they don't automatically shout off I couldn't believe. How could this be possible? How can this devices pass European quality tests. This is not only environment unfriendly but also dangerous.

Can you report is issue fixed with new update?

And another question, is anyone using them normaly, like 24/7, 7 days a week, automatically, like they should be in the first place?

I am seriously thinking to raise this issue on EU customer courts..

EDIT: EVERYTHING WORKS WITH NEW FIRMWARE UPDATE! No problem anymore, at least for me.

Has this issue been resolved with the latest firmware update?

I am thinking about buying this convection heater but I'm not sure if it's a good idea?
