Risk of explosion? Xiaomi Mi5 - back cover bulges and broken away from seam

Xiaomi Mi5 Pro

Something in my phone is physically expanding. I suspect it is the battery. The back cover casing is now protruding, broken away from the seam, with a 1mm gap. Is there any risk of an explosion?



For now the phone still works. I had a faulty battery before, which was replaced in July 2017 after the phone failed to power up.

yeah i'd get rid of that phone.

It's unlikely that it'll explode by itself but I wouldn't charge it anymore.
