Hello,

I live in Croatia and i found that t-mobile uses frequency for 3G 900/2100 and for 4G 800/1800.
In some areas they have 3G on 900 and my Redmi is than only on EDGE signal.
In some areas i have 3G, there is probably on 2100.
4G is also not working because it is probably on 800.
Is band range a hardware thing or I can change it with some software, other ROM maybe?
Does Redmi 2 have a model that covers 3G 900/2100 and 4G 800/1800?
Under is the picture from my Redmi box...

WCDMA (3G) B1/B2/B5 --> 2100Mhz/1900Mhz/850Mhz
GSM (2G edge) B2/B3/B8 --> 1900Mhz/1800Mhz/900Mhz
FDD-LTE (4G) B3/B7 -->1800Mhz/2600MHz

As you can see there is no 3G support in 900Mhz on this model nor 4G on 800Mhz that's why you get EDGE, because is the only compatibe network on 900Mhz

I have the same problem in Belgium; we also use band 20 (800 Mhz) for 4G and 2100 Mhz for 3G.
You can find a number of threads on xda-developers on how to add additional bands. I have tried this but it doesn't really seem to be working for band 20. (I also have the HM 2014813 version)

Therefore, it would be very usefull if somebody could answer the following questions:
Is band range a hardware thing or I can change it with some software, other ROM maybe?

You can enable it on SW side, but it won't work due HW limitation.

No.

Thanks for the clear replies!
In that case, I can stop trying and next time I'll pay more attention to the bands that are supporterd, before buying a phone... :)
