RAM management issue / killing apps

I'm running the latest build on Redmi Note 7. I can barely keep two apps in memory when switching between them. Sometimes my music player gets shut down by sending a video on Whatsapp. It seems the system is crazy about killing apps - yet all battery saver settings (including for individual apps) are off. As I inquired from official Xiaomi Reddit, this problem does not occur on latest stable stock ROM. So I'm wondering - is anyone else experiencing this?

Same here on latest beta. Miui in general is very aggressive when it comes to ram management.

Yeah but this is beyond aggressive, it appears to be broken. I have around 600mb RAM free yet 1-3 apps are ever kept in memory, and even locked apps get killed sometimes.

On AOSP I'd sometimes instantly open an app from days ago, with no speed or battery issues.

When I take photo, any music app is killed. I can't use apps to pin notifications as reminders because they get killed. I'm clueless as to what the f**k is wrong .
