Poco F3 - auto-hiding navigation buttons stopped working

I have been using the phone for months and it was all fine and all of a sudden autohiding navigation buttons stopped working. Now they appear all the time as static bar at the bottom taking good portion of the screen. Previously they were hiding and I could swipe up from the bottom to show them. Just to be clear I do not use gestures, just buttons with auto hiding (until now).

I do not recall installing any updates. In settings there is no setting that controls this. I have been searching for any information days to no avail. I am desperate at the moment. I have MIUI Global 12.5.3.

I would really appreciate any ideas.

Since there is no setting, I can only imagine two solutions, ask Xiaomi on their forums to restore this feature, or find an external app or module to get the same effect.

Once you receive new update it will be fixed. When I first time update the OS it happens to me too, but after few update its fix now.

Official Xiaomi forum, of course. This is a CUSTOM ROM forum.

@MeiGuddet yes, but I asked specifically which, because official xiaomi forums under https://c.mi.com/forum.php are mostly about news, marketing, people sending pictures, etc. it does not look like a real forum, lots of junk in one unstructured place.
