New Calendar App?

It seems that the usual Calendar app is replaced but I am unable to sync any of my existing Google Calendars? Anyone faced the same issue?

I managed to resolve the issue by installing Google Calendar. It seems that Google Calendar needs to be installed in order for MIUI Calendar to sync the selected calendars. Anyone knows how to bypass this requirement? It is quite pointless to keep 2 calendar apps when I only need 1 of them.

So, Uninstlled the unused 1.
Or keep a folder of "UNUSED APPS".

That's the stupid part. Once I uninstalled Google Calendar, the MIUI Calendar app will not be able to detect the calendars anymore. In order to use MIUI Calendar, I will need to have Google Calendar installed. Frustrating...

And what's wrong with that? Miui is Chinese rom. They don't use Google Apps so in order to have Google functionality you have to install some Google apps.

IMHO this does not affect only MIUI but all android phones: if you want to have Google cal sync, you must have Google Calendar installed now. No matter that you may wish to use other calendar app...

I believe so. I am getting my MIUI updates via OTA nowadays.
