Hi Guys,

I have just received a beautiful Xiaomi Mi4c and love the MIUI 7 layout/design and feel but unfortunately its a Chinese market focus device hence the ROM is filled with chinese language stuff hooked into some/alot of the apps. Keyboard also has chinese options and characters popping up here and there...

So here i am seeking path options into transforming the already beautiful Mi4C MIUI 7 into a more friendlier ENGLISH oriented platform.

Is there ANY way of making MIUI 7 (Latest Stable v7.3.2.0) a pure ENGLISH platform or do i need to flash it with some custom ROM?

I had a look at Cyanogenmod but i'm not sure if its fully compatible or stable with the device...

thanks for any advice(s)

Hello,
I think you have the Global ROM, not eu ROM, possibile?

But you need downgrade firmware to neverlocked version or unlock bootloader to use eu ROMs now.
By flashing last china official 7.3.2 rom you locked your boot and now you can use china official roms only.

3rd party ROMs like MIUI.eu, CM13, CM12, Mokee...are now quite stable for daily use, with good battery life and smoothness.

search their forums for your info on flashing ROMs, as well unlocking your phone if necessary.

all these ROMs are multi lingual and clean.

Thanks guys I have the MIUI EU installed and running... had to unlock and install TWRP first though, great learning curve for me... I also tried CM13 and Mokee before going to MIUI EU... all working well on Mi4c 3/32

you just have to downgrade to chinesse dev v 6..... rom using miflash and then unlock your boot loader (google it, it's very simple ;) ,cheer up). then flash twrp and at last flash any miforce eu rom.

There is no MIUI.eu, only xiaomi.eu or en.miui.com.

I am using 7.1.6.0, great battery life. I went back from 6.6.24 -> 6.5.5 -> 6.5.12 with little improvement and then decided to leave dev rom.

Beeing quite happy with second charge on 7.1.6.0 (6 hours + 1 hour SOT = 82%) now I am affraid to try 7.5.2.0 and 7.3.2.0

What are Your experiences with stable versions and battery duration?

Regarding best battery rom:

Take a look at screenshot, all enabled, bt, Wi-Fi, data, voice calls, syncs, mi sync, ALL, no optimizations:

Which rom would you recommend for the mi4c as a daily driver?

The eu rom allows the side tap features? I'm guessing cyanogenmod doesn't... The side tap features are quite important for me to retain.

Yes the EU ROMs have Edge Controls..

Can you comment if camera is the same as the stock rom when it comes to quality? Because it's very poor on cyanogenmod.

I'll definitely be flashing the eu rom. Does it support OTA updates? I'm guessing it requires manual updates going forward once installed? Can you please provide me with the link for the mi4c rom.

Thanks for that. Very useful information. Does gapps have to be flashed manually at the same time or are they included in the rom? Still learning as was advised to do a lot of reading by various forum members.

I'm going back to 7.1.6.0, as you proposed. Now waiting the SOT after the first charge.
Are you tried 7.5.2.0 or 7.3.2.0?
