I don't know if it's my installation is incomplete, but I can't find MiLan Pro in font management?

I suppose it's an important feature in MIUI 11. How I can get it?

(Mi 8 + MIUI.EU 9.9.27)

Wow! Thanks for this tutorial!

Thanks, the workaround works fine for the MiLan Pro font. But it won't let me adjust the font thickness, only the size. It seems the font is not recognized as a system font? Any way to solve this?

Hi guys, first of all thanks to Xiaomi.eu team for the amazing job.
I respect the decision of removing MI Lanting from the rom but someone including me likes it and would like to have it, so here is how :)

MIUI China uses more than just one font; installing the font from themes or from other apps applies MI Lanting everywhere, which isn't correct and mainly this way it isn't possible to modify the font weight.

The solution is to copy the content of this file to /system/fonts and reboot.
Enjoy!

What you are saying is what xiaomi.eu team does but the other way around. They take roboto and rename it MiLanPro...
My solution simply restores the original setup from Miui china.

P.s.: it isn't only one file

Study Miui addon in your fonts.xml file ok? :)

Yes, you can do also your way replacing roboto and using only one file, i'm just saying you will not have the same result.
As I already wrote the original miui china uses both MiLan and roboto.
My zip contains only what is different between xiaomi.eu and miui china fonts.
Clear?

Tried Mi Lanting for a few hours, and I have to admit that I prefer Mi Lanting, tks for sharing.

I think it's kinda personal, with default mi eu font, I feel medium size is a little bit too small, but large size is too big, with MiLanting medium size feel just right, it's true it takes more space than default mi eu font, but for me personally, it's easier to read and the font is kinda pretty (this is of course personal).

Let me attach 2 screenshots :
- Mi eu default font : pict 1 & 3
- Mi Lanting : pict no. 2 & 4

Size : medium, and I set mi eu default font to bold (default is too thin), Mi Lanting is default/regular.

Edited : last screenshot was accidentally set to bold, it's regular now, 3rd is mi eu bold

OK, I get your point.

I'm on the small size and I think there are places where the text is still too big.
I guess on the big(er) scale/size you can apreciate the font itself a bit differently...

Fonts are smaller and narrower on device with 18:9 screen ratio compared to 16:9, even worst on 19.5:9 display like Redmi Note 7 Pro.

do i need to root my phone?

If you want to do it from MIUI through (a) file manager then yes.
You can however remain unrooted and reboot into recovery, mount the system partition and copy those files through the recovery's file manager. This way though the risk of a mistake is higher and it may cost you...
Thanks i will try it, i want to remain unrooted.
