New Mi9 - Widevine

Did you tried to factory reset and then format the phone in TWRP? I installed the last MIUI 11 beta for Mi9 by formatting everything and I got L1 (which, however, won't let me play full hd content in Twitch App. Netflix is working good)

I tried and nothing. Gonna try again, I have nothing else to do.

Can you tell me your steps? Factory reset from TWRP too?

Wiped everithing but vendor and formated and still L3.
Factory reset from SO and format from TWRP and still L3.
After 4 different resets, I think is just enought. If there is any new info I'll try again.

@Dorisnov Did you have L1 out of the box on Stock and it turned after flashing to L3? I'm still on Stock with L1 and i'm afraid to lose it if i flash a miui rom

I had L1 out of the box and with Xiaomi.eu I had L3 until a certain beta was released with L1 and voice match working. Now I have L3 again.

BTW, new release (9.11.7) and L3.

Hi,

Same problem here, fastboot flashing latest global rom, and I've got L1.

After flashing latests eu (9.11.7), back to L3, and fingerprint is weird : Xiaomi/dipper/dipper:8.1.0/OPM1.171019.011/ (it's android 8 Mi 8 fingerprint if i'm right)

Maybe probleme is here ...

Thanks

Some other users have this same fingerprint and L1 security level.

Same here, still on L3.

How some users can have L1 with same rom and same device ? There's must be a difference ...

I wish I know, but I don't. I'am on a group with EU users with L1 and some others with L3.

I have the same problem. I never had L1 with xiaomi.eu, but now even if I install the global I always stay on L3 and I don't understand what the problem is

Had the same problem until today (latest EU Rom)... Uninstalled Netflix, removed ALL Magisk modules, restarded phone, installed Netflix again... Boom L1 and full HD content no ROM reFlash for me!

Sounds promising. Did you install/flash magisk again? Maybe hiding it too?

No I only selected to delete all of them via app and restarted, didn't flash anything, hid Magisk from Netflix but idk if that's necessary, try for yourself.

I'll check this later, but I have some questions:
  • You removed all the modules but not magisk?
  • After getting L1 again you reinstalled the modules and L1 persisted?
I'm gonna test by myself later, but just wanna know in case I cant make it work.

1. No I did NOT uninstall Magisk itself
2. No I did NOT try to re install the modules again but I suspect it was just one of them that gave me the issue (SafetyPatchV3 to be exact) so I suggest trying one at a time!
Good luck :)

Widevine L1 is back in xiaomi.eu 20.1.21 weekly ROM update, that's cool. :)

I had no luck. I don't have any module that causes Widevine level to change, so uninstalling them had no effect. With no modules I still have L3. Algo without magisk.

I vote for formatting data / factory resetting also. It worked for me, got L1 and HD Netflix working that way. Got same problem with Twitch app though, only seeing 720p, not 1080p.

For those who have L1 can indicate which certificates found on the page:

Settings / Password & security / Unlock with fingerprint / Payments

Thanks

Nothing, I readed "those who not have L1". I've formatted numerous times with no luck, so I dont know if it worths the try.

This patch is for mi-9t. As far as I remember, that patch deletes a file on mi-9t, which does not exist on our mi9. Unfortunately won't enjoy HD yet :(

Btw guys, you should always state about which version of mi9 your are talking about (aka which one do you have).

I have the 8/256 mi9 version and as far as I know, nobody has ever seen this device having L1. On the standard/classic/EU mi9 version (6/64, 6/128) some users have L1 and some do not.

For now, the case is still not solved :(

cheers and thx for input guys

In DRM Info, the fingerprint of my device is
Xiaomi/cepheus/cepheus:10/QKQ1.190825.002/V11.0.3.0.QFAMIXM:user/release-keys

I guess only devices in EU(EEA) got L1, not devices with MI(global).

Patch doesn't remove anything but add "liboemcrypto.so" files in vendor partition. ^^

(v1) patch is for every xiaomi/redmi devices (with "stock" Widevine L1, yes... otherwise it will not work).

You can reverse the patch with the "Remover" zip.

:)
