Hi folks. I know there are several other threads like this here, but none of them answer my specific scenario so I'm posting again.
I have a Mi4C and a while back the screen broke. I brought it to be fixed and in the process of fixing, the phone was wiped. I am now using a different phone and I wish to put a new sim into the Mi4C and give it to a relative however I can't get past the Mi Account sign in.
On MIUI8, when it gets to the 'Sign in to your Mi Account' page of the setup process, it first of all presents me with two boxes, one for "Email Address or Mi Account ID' and the second for password. Before I have any time to enter these, it says it's 'Getting Device Security Info' and just asks for my password.
It tells me that my password is incorrect and the Account ID associated with the phone has a different number to my Mi Account.
I have tried various listed ways to hard reset the phone, none of which have worked. It still arrives back at the same point regardless of what I do.
Anyone any ideas?
