there it writes...

With unlocking did you add your Mi Account under Settings?

Also under developer options did you either enable OEM unlocking & or Add account & device?

Yes so my apologies.. it must be able to be unlocked on a vendor ROM in your case with the Mi Mix.

What about Mi Unlock status?

First flash original rom (no need unlock), then boot device, log in to your mi account and register your device. After that you will be able to unlock it.

@Kostas_F

Can you elaborate on your previous post about not having to have an unlocked bootloader to flash an Official ROM?

All tutorials I can find suggest otherwise.

i did what was at http://en.miui.com/thread-434406-1-1.html

with method 1 i was able to locate the phone in micloud. after that i activated android device manager and put the phone in fastboot but mi unlock still stuck at 50% and says couldn't verify the phone
method 2 is not for me since i have vendor rom not chinese dev/stable rom.

now i am completely lost

funny thing is that with the phone connected with cable the mi unlock ends up at 50% saying that cannot connect to phone while phone is in fastboot mode.
but miflash app can see the phone as in attached image.

would it be a driver issue?

fastboot oem device-info gives me waiting for device...

You should get a response from adb device info.

Also you you should get a serial number returned after you enter: adb devices

That lets you know the device is connected.

Did you install the ADB setup?

Strange place to have ADB installed? but anyway as far as I know Mi Unlock tool has its own drivers & maybe you have a conflict somewhere.

Can we pick this up tomorrow sometime?

looks like nothing works and i am condemned to stay with that vendor rom lol

Need to fix that driver issue, you shouldn't have exclamation marks for adb if its connected in fastboot mode.
