Mi 8 SE OTA

Hi guys, total newbie here so apologies if this is answered nelsewhere but I could not find anything.

Just bought a Mi 8 SE and the seller has installed a xiaomi.eu rom for me (8.7.5).

When I try and install 8.9.6 via updater the phone reboots, cycles through the splash screen a few times and then loads back into 8.7.5 without updating. This happens both with the OTA and when I download the ROM from here and select via updater.

Can anyone help? I love the phone and the software but am totally stumped by this

Ok, but in the Recovery (Mi-Recovery 3.0) only this appears: Reboot/wipe data/connect with Miassistant and inside Reboot: Reboot to system/Back to main menu

unlock bootloader, install TWRP and then install our ROM.. google it..

I think the bootloader is unlocked. If starting the miui 10 appears the padlock removed means it is unlocked?

Hola Carlos, cuando arrancas el teléfono debería aparecer un candado abierto con el texto "unlocked" en la parte inferior del teléfono..

Si es así, tienes el bootloader desbloqueado. Entonces lo que tienes que hacer es descargar el TWRP e instalarlo (buscando en Google salen muchos manuales de instalación, este por ejemplo). Luego entras en el nuevo Recovery que acabas de instalar e instalas la ROM que previamente habrás copiado en la memoria del teléfono..

Más claro agua barbaman!! Gracias!! Pero una última duda, si se hace de esta forma doy por hecho de que mantiene todos los archivos, programas y tal no?
