Good news here guys.
I found this TWRP recovery modded for our specific phone, MI 8 EE URSA, made by the modder BB72.
Download link: https://drive.google.com/uc?authuser=0&id=1jpeSarFRrjuYFEvW-guMIABgmZukC9eh&export=download

I found this in an Italian blog, I paste here the link but if it's against the forum rules I remove it: http://blog.**********.net/xiaomi-mi-8-explorer-flash-eu-rom/

I haven't tried yet but it should work.

With this no need to modify the room filename in dipper. Just download the eu rom and flash.

@up
It's awesome to hear :)
Please share what recovery type did you use?
Did you unlock bootloader in advance?

I use TWRP and change the installer file from ursa to dipper

Thank you for your reply.
Why did you change the installer from URSA to Dipper?
Did your installation/update was done on Mi8 standard version, not the EE one?

Today i would like to unlock my bootloader....but the fu.. phone told me to wait 720hours?!? ;-) Really? Is there another option?

If you use the TWRP from "MI8" on the "MI8 EE" then you have to change the board name in the "custom_rom.zip" coz the "Mi8" TWRP needs the board name from "Mi8" its called "dipper"

0. Use "MI8 TWRP" on "MI8 Explorer Edition" and install custom ROM
1. open downloaded custom "rom.zip"

I need to wait 720 hours to unlock bootloader :/ this is so bad for xiaomi...
why some have to wait 72h, 360h, 720h and over 1000 hours? How xiaomi decides how many hours someone should wait?

I'm in the same situation. I really want to install xiaomi.eu rom :(

Hello guys! This policy makes me crazy! If i know this bevor i had decided zu buy a one plus 6T and no xiaomi!
Best regards
peter

Xiaomi accounts in CHina do not have to wait - speak to your chinese reseller and ask them if they can create an account for you linked to a chinese SIM card - of they send you the verification codes (they need to agree to do this at a certain time) you can unlock straight away.

Hallo Community,

Hoffentlich spricht hier jmd deutsch :)

ich stehe absolut auf dem Schlauch und verstehe nur Bahnhof.. Leider finde ich kein passendes deutsches Forum wo das erklärt wird..

Also mein Problem/Anliegen:

Ich habe das Xiaomi Mi8 Explorer Edition, leider nur auf Eng/Chi sprachig..

Ich bräuchte es unbedingt auf Deutsch, ich sehe ihr habt da eine Lösung gefunden wie man das hinbekommt richtig?

Es wäre super nett, wenn sich eine Person die Zeit nehmen würde, mir Schritt für Schritt zu schreiben wie das genau funktioniert und was ich alles benötige!!

Vielen Vielen Dank
Mit freundlichen Grüßen/King Regards
Benji

OK. Yes, you need an unlocked bootloader to do that.

Before any of the below, you need to set up adb on a computer. (If you don't know how to do this, you're in for a long ride, but you will get there. Search for this on google.)
On your phone enable developer options, and enable USB debugging in developer options on the phone.
As soon as you enable USB debugging with the phone plugged into the computer, ensure you grant permission to the computer that you will use to do this - you will be prompted on the phone.

Right, ready to go?

Here is what you need to do:
1. Unlock you bootloader with the Xiaomi MiTool ( I found a version translated by Francesco Tescari - do a google for his name you will find it).
2.Remove Xiaomi account from the phone
3. Download TWRP 3.2.3 for the EE (Explorer Edition).
4. Download the Xiaomi EU ROM for EE: Find it here: https://xiaomi.eu/community/threads/8-8-23-24.45845/
5. Flash TWRP using the tools in the download, and let it boot to recovery)
6. Format your data partition in TWRP, and flash the rom from your computer using the advanced flash option in TWRP, then ADB Sideload. On your computer, with adb set up, you need to enter the command adb sideload c:\path to the folder where the rom is\Rom.zip
7. Reboot your phone and enjoy.

Roms from xiaomi eu community will not encrypt your bootloader and will not wipe TWRP and replace it with stock recovery on each boot. If you flash an official ROM, both of these will happen.

I can make files available on request.
