And I got a better answer here... And I am not the only one to ask the same question on multiple platforms to get different answers. So stop being toxic. And I asked because my cable was not able to transfer data. And seller had no idea if it supports or not. So I asked... So no, it's not naturally obvious, and now I know and I asked him to change the charging set and it works now..

It may not be obvious to you, but if you were sligtly aware, the another name for a USB cable is actually 'data transfer cable', so as everyone has told you, yes it is made to transfer data. All cables transfer data, the only difference is the rate at which they transfer the data and that will vary slightly based on which USB standard and USB port you are using. If your cable is unable to transfer data, it is probably due to a wire having been broken, and thusly the connection to transfer data would also be broken. The seller probably didn't have any idea what you were yalking about and so he simply said that he didn't know, since he wants to make a sale and not anger you and lose a sale.

sometimes, off brand charging cable has problem transferring data, but of course original one from box should be fine
An Android phone is always packaged with a data tranfers cable from the manufacturer. Android phones have been designed with as they are designed so that they work with ADB commands from your PC, as well as, upgrades from your PC and other software that accesses your device from the PC. Xiaomi uses things like MiFlash, MiUlock and PCsuite. Samsung uses Odin and Dex. ZTE has mobile tools that are loaded on your PC, as do other manufacturers. In order for any of this to work, it needs a data tranfer cable. Anyone that has bought a phone from a manufacturer or reputable source, knows this. Some people apparently have done neither.
Defects can happen at any time to any product and that's a reality, but it's not the norm or what the product was designed to do. Think about it, if you have a car without tires, it doesn't mean that the car doesn't run and it doesn't mean that a new car dealer would sell you a car without wheels. Sometimes you need a little common sense and a little effort. If you go to virtually any sales site, they list spec sheets and what they include with the device they are selling. So sometimes you just got to look, but it's a lot easier to have other people do the work for you.
Thanks for the answer and support. I have no idea why this guy is acting like this... Anyway, the cable was faulty. The seller changed the charging pack. I wasn't sure about the data transferring capabilities because china version doesn't come with a charger and cable. It comes separately for free. I assumed it was cost cutting to just give a charge compatible only cable. And about the charging animation, I owned a mi 10 ultra which showed 120w charging/55w wireless charging specifically written. So I was wondering the same about 67w charging.
i owned CN version also, and the charger and cable that came separately can transfer data also. i think if it's a genuine one from xiaomi (or any other manufacturer), their cable can be used to transfer data.
