It's not impossible to unlock the bootloader though... I mean on the Xiaomi 14/14 Pro it's still very much possible. Just much harder for users that import the phones from China.

Can also confirm that when I was using CN ROM I was rooted and was also recieving OTA updates like normal, seems like Xiaomi forgot to disable the option for OTA or something for BL unlocked/rooted phones
