I don't think a release date was announced, but it was announced we'd be getting the Pie update at some point.

I just recieved Pie OTA, but with experience with miBox, I don't want to install it yet.
I see complaints in some forums, but I do t know if those are noticed on beta or official?

What are your impresions on Pie on Mi A2 (Mi 6X)?
