I really like all the bells and whistles of the MIUI rom - first time trying it was yesterday and I was very impressed. However, because the default "theme" was so iPhone-like - it made it seem like I didn't have total control over the phone. Are there any themes that look more like gingerbread with the same customization options that MIUI has?

You can pretty much do anything you want with the layout. Make some folders, label them and group the apps into them by catagory. Add all the widgets you want. Add icons into the bottom of the screen or remove them. Change settings with the launcher to control effects (settings, personal, launcher). Use theme manager to load lots of premade themes, or make your own. This is nothing but control over just about every aspect of it's use. Explore a bit and have fun.
Yea, I know. Its an awesome ROM. I was hoping someone could suggest a theme that felt a little more gingerbread like. I love the rom and I'm aware of all the things that can be done with it. I tried different themes and I really like it except the theme I selected had a font that didn't work with gmail for some reason. Figures.
Just use a different launcher? ADW Launcher can be tweaked to resemble the AOSP launcher very easily.

One thing the iPhone has, in spades, over Android IMO is usability. MIUI addresses this by having an iPhone-like launcher. That said, MIUI also does many other things that expand on Android and make it much more powerful than the iPhone. Like others said, you can use another launcher, but IMO, you lose a significant portion of the MIUI experience.

Go to Forum > Miui Theming > Themes releases.
Then choose a new theme for your smartphone.

what he is asking is if you guys can recommend a gingerbread theme. He's not asking how to theme or to change the launcher. I don't know any themes like that but if anyone else knows id like to know as well 
Why cant people understand that MIUI was a direct Iphone knock off (thank God)? If everyone wants a Gingerbread, froyo etc then go to a Sense rom.... Hey wait, If I weren't so cheap I would buy an Iphone in a heart beat (It is a better phone /design and OS).. So lucky me, I have an Android Iphone cause Im too dam cheap for the Iphone plan..

Honestly, I do have to say I do like how sleek the iPhone UI is, but I like how customizable the Android system is, as well as how open source it is.
Basically, if you take a folder, put all your apps in that folder, and put it at the bottom on your app tray, you could technically make a "app drawer"
Personally, I hate app drawers. They look so cluttered, and annoy me so.
=/ If that's your favorite thing about android then you should probably get a Sense UI rom or Cyanogen.
(Also, iPhones suck. /Discussion.)

In what magically mystery universe do you live that an iPhone is more expensive than a proper Android device? Seems to me that upon first launch Android superphones vs the iPhone 4 cost the same...however because Android devices come out so often and hardware progresses so quickly (a problem if you're a technophile...also a blessing) after a few months the new hotness becomes the not so new hotness so they lower the price or offer deals (this is in the US as I'm not sure how it works worldwide) so an iPhone 4 equivalent would be less than the iP4 but a phone that's more powerful than it will be the same price as it.

Apple are far from original, in fact, they are not. Apple are currently suing company's like Samsung because of the way it looks, but hang on, the iPhone 4 looks an awful lot like the LG Prada. Which leads me to my next point, Apple have also been awarded a US patent office saying they where the first and only ones allowed to use touch screen based phones are it was "their idea", wrong again, LG Prada.
I know this wasn't directed at me, but I'll answer you anyway - Canada. With my provider, Telus, the most expensive Androids are 500 dollars (Desire HD, Nexus S, Galaxy S Facinate, Optimus 3G), the cheapest iPhone 4 (16 gig) is $650.
$150 more for a phone you can't do as much with. Lol, Apple.

iOS = Propriety
And now you can try to compare with the hardware spec and you will know which 1 is more "expensive".

I think most of the mature posters here will agree, iOS has the upper hand in much of the user experience department. MIUI simply would like to improve upon those aspects. That being said, MIUI brings MUCH more to the table as far as the android rom experience is concerned. Before MIUI, theming Android was not for the faint of heart, or those who we're tied up with busy schedules. Thankfully the MIUI team has given many of us a solid choice for customizability and UX.

Theme: there is a them in the theme manager that might give you more of a gingerbread feeling. I think it is called Ginger (something). Download it..and done...

Well, that's Miui. Take it or leave it.
The only thing I would like to see added is the option to sort apps by categories (name, frequency of use, etc.). Sorting everything manually is just too painfull.
