[violet] Since MIUI 12, can't change SIM in Google Messages. Anyone experiencing the same, or is it just me?

It's possible this is an isolated bug, but I want to rule out the possibilities first, so I figured I'd ask if others have the same problem. I have a Redmi Note 7 Pro (violet), and since I upgraded to MIUI 12 a few weeks ago, I noticed I could no longer select which SIM to use when sending an SMS via Google Messenger. It used to work fine back in MIUI 11. I have no problems switching sim in the stock messaging app.

Is anyone experiencing the same issue? I'm not sure whether this is a Google Messages issue, a MIUI 12 issue, or something else entirely, so I'm trying to rule out possible causes. Thanks!

I don't know if anything changed (I made no changes on my end), but after updating to MIUI 12 version 20.7.9, Google Messages now works like it should, and I can now switch sim.

I just updated both and it still doesn't work. I can't choose which SIM to use. Mi 9t Pro.
