New [umi] Background apps keep getting killed no matter what I do

I recently flashed the latest .eu ROM on my Mi 10, and I'm having the classic issue where it's killing background apps, this is especially annoying with IM stuff like WhatsApp and Telegram.
The thing is, I tried all the classic methods: disabling Battery Optimization AND setting battery saver to no limits on the app info page, and disabling the sleep detection thing in the Security app, but it's still happening.

Are you by any chance using Dual apps? If so, disable the feature completely.

I'm not currently using dual apps. But I do have a really "fun" story about the bug you're referring to.
