Hello dear forum members,
I've been trying to unlock my old Mi 8 because I want to get Android 12 onto it.
I followed all the common steps -- turned on debugging, turned on OEM unlock, etc.
I tried using the official tool, but the device wouldn't show up there no matter what I did, so I tried the unofficial tool from Francesco.
I got as far as it recognizing the device when it is fully booted and unlocked - it tries to reboot it, I get as far as selecting the "Connect with Mi" (or whatever it was) option (third from the top). Then I select "unlock bootloader", and here's the problem - it tries to boot into fastboot mode, but I hear the "device disconnected" sound Windows makes as soon as it enters fastboot. It also instantly switches from the fastboot logo into a screen that says "press any key to shutdown". The device is not recognized once it is in fastboot.
Please help me resolve this issue, big thank you in advance.
