Tried to update my MIUI to recent and....

Was surprised and delighted to see my LG Optimus 2x (P990) back with an updated MIUI Jellybean. So....quickly tried to update to latest 3.5.10 from the one I had 2.6 or somesuch. Seemed to do so OK. BUT it restarted to the original. Only now, I can't get into the area needed to try again. Just reboots this old MIUI (which is fine, to be honest) anyone know how to get out of this loop and what is wrong ?

Well you didn't do full wipe before 3.5.17.
This is new MIUI v5 and you have old MIUI v3. You must do full wipe in recovery before installing rom based on Jelly Bean.

Ah, right. Wasn't aware.
Only problem now is - I can't get onto the section needed to do the full wipe.
It just boots up into the old MIUI any idea how I can get there ?

Edit: Trying to do "factory data erase" from the phone. Its refusing to. It says it's irreversible, reboots, and same again. MIUI v 3

Go to recovery using hardware keys (probably volume down + power), wipe data factory reset and install any rom.

Thats what I'm saying. It isn't happening. Just boots to MIUI v3 ONLY
Odd. Just won't go to the page I need. Just boots up

I tried to install and as with Phil K, after factory reset, dalvik wipe and flashing rom, I get back to my old rom, the rom flashing process seems unusually fast, maybe there is something wrong with the file...

No way to do a full install then ? Hoped someone would know how to get out of this mess (not quite fair. Ver 3 is fine, version 5 would have been nicer. strange how it's just bypassing the menu and just booting up the old MIUI)

Hi there, A friend of my mr. Obelix Says That you need to go to the clockworkmod.
then in the CWM wipe data/factory reset
then go to Mount and storage.
then choose format /system and install the newest miui rom....
that was the way to make it work.....

I followed your instructions, Now I can't even access the old rom nor the cwm recovery

Yeah, I will try unrooting, I know it's not your fault but I'm frustrated because I cant get the new MIUI in my old phone... Thanks for trying to help though.

Yeah i know because i see videos on youtube...
But i can't understand that they don't tell how to do it.
And on this forum no one can't tell how to do it...

I figured out why I couldn't install it, you have to install the New Bootloader FIRST! now I'm using this rom! The easiest way to do it is with the All-in-One tool for LG P990 you can find it in the XDA Forums.
