Touchscreen suddenly stopped working

hi

over night on Fuxi the touch screen suddenly stopped working when i picked up the phone this morning. it was all working fine last night but now i cannot use the phone.

symptoms:
- phone does not react to touch gestures
- phone registers ghost touches
- sometimes some touch input is registered (e.g. fingerprint)

i have tried restarting the phone multiple times that didn't fix it. booted into twrp but same problem, can't even unlock the screen
i am kind of freaking out right now so any ideas would be very much appreciated

latest xiaomi.eu hyperOS stable is installed.
the phone did not take any physical damage lately, only got exposed to some rain last night (but it was working after that)
