Redmi 4a Global B20 Version

Hello,
There is now also a global international version of the Redmi4a with 4G band B20.
The official global firmware doesn't have the Dutch language, the firmware here does.
But does this firmware work with the global international version with the B20 band or not? Will it work but with the B20 band disabled?
If it does not work with the B20 band version, will it be supported soon?

Thanks for your reply.
I known that there is a global B20 version 4a, but it doesn't support the Dutch language, so I asked here if there would be a xiaomi.eu firmware version for the that B20 version or if the xiaomi.eu firmware version already supports the global B20 hardware.

I'm also looking for some information about the compatibility of the "rolex" Xiami.eu ROM on the Redmi 4A Global which is already available. Would be pretty cool if someone has some further information on that or tried it already on himself.

I can't believe that after 4 years of cheap chinese phones flooding the EU market they didn't make phones with the primarily used 4G LTE band 20 in Europe. We got cheated.

Is the eu rom for "Rolex" Redmi4a interchangeable with the global version of the redmi4a?
And will band 20 still works?
Anybody tested it allready?

I know that the "land" redmi 3s firmware is interchangeable with the global version of that phone.

I think the B20 band works without enabling anything in Redmi4A international/global with the Xiaomi.eu roms, @ingbrzy can you confirm it? Thank you.

Yes. Time to shine a light in the (buy shop sellers induced) grey area:

The Global Version was/is primarily intended for the Taiwanese Market.
(Other markets served are Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and around this region)
Has a slightly different box (English text and not Chinese) and different product number.
The ROM is an 'authentic' one from Xiaomi and updated accordingly with most common international languages.

But since every store starts to mixing up Global and International to boost sales, you need to be very careful with what they sell.

Rule of thumb: Double check, double check en check; ask a photo of the box...; if in doubt...don't buy!

• Chinese text = No B20 supported
• English text = Most probable B20 supported or fake

The Global version support band B20. Short overview 3G/UMTS & 4G/LTE bands coding:

• 800 Mhz = B20
• 850 Mhz = B2
• 900 Mhz = B8
• 1800 Mhz = B3
• 2100 Mhz = B1
• 2600 Mhz = B7

P.S. So a Global version (with hardware enabled B20) should work with any 4A rom.

You cannot software enable B20 if the hardware is not enabled.
The main difference is that the so-called 'Quallcom frequency chip' installed. Xiaomi pay extra license fees for enabling B20. Same chip, different coding....
(In other words; the hardware is the same, but one tiny chip is hardcoded to include/release B20. Yes the multiband antenna's are the same and simultaneously used for 2G, 3G and 4G)

Yep every band they enable cost license fees....thus the limitation for most phones without B20. Just put a surcharge of around €10 for the end-consumer in cost.

And that's the thought behind it. Why should everybody in the rest of the world pay €10 Euro extra for a frequency B20? The only winner is Qualcomm..... So yes we got cheated...by Qualcomm.

Edit: Browse throught the different country shops at mi.com and you find out...
Models currently supported are

• Redmi 4a
• Remid Note 4x (Yes, it exist, just released in Taiwan)
• Redmi Note 4
• Redmi 3s
• Redmi Note 3 (Special Edition Taiwan in 2016)

Well we got cheated by Xiaomi.
Any chance of getting the phone to a smartphone electronics service shop and getting the frequency enabled? What's the actual chip that has to be replaced? Where can we find the schematics or datasheets? Any additional info you can provide?
