A leaked image shows that Xiaomi is working on MIUI 9 software. It is rumored to be based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The exact version number of MIUI 9 and supported devices have surfaced.
Xiaomi had released MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS in August. Now the Chinese firm is preparing to release Android N flavored MIUI 9 with version number 9.6.9.23. A leaked photo of has surfaced indicating that the ROM is in works, Tech Updates reported by finding info from Weibo, the Chinese social media site.
Supported Devices
The newly launched Xiaomi Mi 5s and Mi 5s Plus flagships along with Mi 5 that was launched earlier this year will receive Android 7.0 Nougat MIUI 9 update. Other Mi devices such as Mi 4s, Mi 4i, Mi 4c, Mi Max, Mi Note Pro and Mi Pad 2.
Since Qualcomm is not releasing graphics drivers update for devices running on Snapdragon 800 and 801, smartphones like Xiaomi Mi Note running on SD 801 SoC is unlikely to get the software upgrade. In the Redmi series, the Redmi Pro, Redmi Note 3, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 2 Prime, Redmi 3, Redmi 3 and Redmi 3A are going to receive Android N based MIUI 9 update.
Xiaomi Mi Note 2, the next flagship from the company with dual-edge curved screen and dual cameras, is slated to get unveiled soon. It is not confirmed whether it will come preloaded with MIUI 9 update. If it arrives without it, it will be one of the first devices to get the software upgrade.
