Mi 14 Ultra Camera Grip / Photography Kit bad build quality

so I got the Mi 14 Ultra with the camera grip today. Unfortunately the grip itself has tons of play and the zoom rocker gets stuck.

Luckily mine is fine but a friend facing the same, call support,, they will send another photography kit and take back the broken one, seems a common issue!

It's been over a week now. I've send both email and talked to them on the phone, also did a live chat session. every time they promised a response by some sort of specialist via email, nothing ever came.
I am rather pissed by now.

The stock case is open, the photography kit too, i applied an uv Filter

The 13 Ultra version of the photography kit came with a cap/cover to put over the lenses. Looks like it was removed for the 14 version

I See, either buy a case with a cap or maybe something like this:

Btw, any 67 mm lenscap should work with the Adapter!

Is the phtography kit "case" similar to the one that comes with the phone in terms of feel and thickness? I guess it sticks out more to allow for the ring to be attached.

I'm using the case that came with the phone for now. I would like it of the raised lip for the screen and camera was a little taller. I think most glass is designed to break easily when hit from the edge vs on the face. So the border surrounding the glass is important. For the stock case, it does not seem to give much protection around the screen glass. It is very thin and the bottom is entirely exposed. There is a pretty thick border around the camera so maybe a cap isnt required.

I have been thinking of getting the photography kit and using it without the ring and grip as a case normally. Then attaching the rest when needed. However given the report of the quality issues, I'm not sure. Maybe I'll save the money.

The ring is not measurably thicker, so the kit as a daily case works just fine!

Thats right. I was thinking of the adapter since it sticks up.

So is the case without the grip pretty much the same as the case that comes with the phone?
Or is it better somehow? thicker? feels better? higher lip? My main issue with the stock case is that the lip is very low, like less than 1mm.
