How To Keep An App Always Connected?

After my Note 2 updated itself to V7.2.3.0.LHMMIDA global ROM through OTA a few week ago, my important XMPP chat app began to malfunction (I use it for business for the visitors of one of my sites). After a certain time it always looses connection which hadn't been the case with the previous ROMs at all. When I enter the app, connection comes back in a few seconds. I tried all possible settings, but nothing has changed. I have also tried numerous other XMPP/Jabber apps, no success.
In the last few days I'm experiencing problems with Gmail syncing too (it often syncs only manually)
Maybe these two problems have something in common..?

Anyone experiencing the same issues?

Maybe it has to do with the battery saving Features? Go to Settings advanced battery and tell miui not to kill the processes you need.

Bingo, you are a genius! I have spent countless hours to find some solution, but I have never thought that it has something to be done with the battery settings! I'm just wondering, why I didn't experence this problem with previous ROMs...?
