Couple questions with MIUI on EVO.

Hi There,

I have 2 questions if anyone can help please.

1: Is there any purpose in using an APP like APPS2SD with MIUI? I ask because I come from SENSE roms and they had it set apps are moved directly to the SD Card, freeing up internal memory. So I was wondering how this works with MIUI?

2: When I click on add accounts to setup my GMAIL, there is an option for MIUI. It says to visit www.miui.com, which I did, but it's all in chinese. When I click on the English part on the top right, it just changes the stories on the home page but everything else remains in chinese. What is the purpose of this account?

1: apps2sd should be working just like it would in sense. If it isn't, then maybe you need to use a different kernel that would allow it

2. If you want to set up your gmail, as in with the gmail app, then you should select Google on the add accounts panel -just like you would on sense. Otherwise you could use the "email" app that comes with the rom.

The MIUI account option is for the Chinese MIUI users with accounts at miui.com, which is why everything's in Chinese. Don't really worry about it much. It doesn't really concern us.

I stopped using APPS2SD since I moved to MIUI. Imho, A2SD is better. To use A2SD, you will need to partition your SD card, and create a ext2/3/4 partition (I use ext3). Search this Forum or XDA on how to do this (many ways to do it, I used a gParted live CD mounted in a virtual machine to accomplish the task). The advantage of this method is that android thinks your apps/widgets are installed internally, thus they are always available, even when you unmount the SD card (the FAT32 partition). I believe you can allocate up to 2GB for this, I personally use 1GB which I think is plenty (240+ apps and still have 700MB available). Also, your apps are automatically installed on SD this way. No need to manually move them there.
