Android 7 Nougat Coming To The Mi 5!

There's a request for alpha testers on MIUI forums for a Nougat build of MIUI 8:

Who knows how much time will pass until this gets through all the testing phases and becomes a stable release, good enough for a daily driver... But it's exciting nonetheless

The alpha ROM will be released next week for all accepted alpha testers. Of course, a stable version is surely still several months ahead. Still, it's great to know that Nougat is coming

Seriously though, it's because the time to apply for alpha testing expired today, I guess that's why that thread got closed. Perhaps we'll soon see some advance on Nougat for our Mi5.

Cool, congratulations! If possible, tell us about it when you get it! (I don't know if you had to accept a non-disclosure agreement when applying for alpha testing, but if not, tell us all about it! :-D )

Has anyone installed it yet? How's it looking?

I'm interested in how some of Nougat's improvements are in our Mi 5:

- App installs should be significantly faster
- Also (and I realize we'll need a Nougat update to test this) the app optimization step after an update should be a lot faster
