Snapdragon devices are flagship, they get updates first. MTK will follow, Xiaomi said MIUI 6 for MTK devices is coming on December or so if I'm not mistaken. I forget where I read it, though.

MTK is the worst chip in the history or mankind, it's so power hungry and inefficient. It's even worse than the Intel mobile chips.

You want a decent mobile device, buy a phone with a snapdragon SoC.

MTK are cheap but it's not the worst.Old generation quadcore and octacore and got good power efficiency, newest generation is even better.
The bad thing of MTK soc are the gpu, mali450, but outside games it make his work.
The newest mtk got a powervr 6200 better but the performance are similar to a 2 years old adreno 320.

Its not the Chip, but the OS which is power hungry.

MiUi always take much of resources.
With heavily use, my phone goes from morning to evening. Normally double then normal juice I get.

Just shifted to CM ROM, and it takes only 600-700 MB of RAM.. And whole night, only 6% battery consumed.

Yes mi4 is better than mx4 but you might consider price. And score difference isn't that big.

You can put another quad core mtk processor in mx4 if you want to equal the price.

My experience with Xiaomi: if they say date x, that means AT LEAST x + 2 weeks, my last one (MI-2S) got x + a couple of months, though. They said end of December for MTK devices, so you can expect that around mid January.
