A couple questions for ye

Does anyone know how to:

1) Make the default messaging app stop showing a number symbol on its icon when a message comes in? I use Handcent, and this is very annoying to have my eye drawn to.

Anyone know how to make an app shortcut without using an app like bettercut?

I use Handcent as my primary SMS as well and have turned off notifications on the stock sms app and when I check an SMS in Handcent it clears the number of unread on the lockscreen.

There isn't a way to do it with out editing the system files or something.
