4 Pro - Problem With Audio From Speaker/capsule

Hello everybody! I'm facing a problem that is bothering me so much. It appens with notification sounds.If i play music or video or even under call it's fine( or atlast I didn't notice it)
I have the latest Rom( from miui.it, based on china dev 6.12.15), all default setting, I did a factory reset, clean cache, reflashing rom and so on... I had same prob with vendor rom ( fake global 8.0.5.0.0), xiaomi.eu (dev 6.12.15) and Cm13 porting.

What appen:
These point affect main speaker...
-If i get a message (sms o whatsapp) I can hear pop/crackling from main speaker, but that's not appen always.

-If I play a sound ( for example someone send many message on whatsapp, and I have chat open) the sound is not neat... it could crackle...
- If i play music(default player), all works fine.... for now
-If I use main speaker under a call, its work fine... for now
-I had fun on locking and unlocking phone fast, all the sound where played fine...
-when I close a call( u can ear a sound), it pop after the sound is over...

These point affect capsule ( speaker that you use for calls)
- When I play a whatapp's vocal message , sometime it crackle... in different point. If I play it again, it crackle in different point and sometime it play fine. No problems with Telegram vocal message
Playing same vocal voice using main speaker don't give me problem( or just some random popping)
- While calling , audio is fine...

Doens't matter volume level...



Does someone have my same problem?
What it can be? It may depend from software?

We all have this problem. It is called distortion and happens on the max volume level. All redmi 4/pro models have this.

Are you sure? Because I heard about people that all works fine on their devices.

Do you think that changing capsule and speaker it will fix the problem? or it is a bug software driven?

Doesn't matter volume level, I will hear always pop/crackling...

So... why if i play music or I'm calling someone all works fine? :/

Ok, thank You... I installed xiaomi.eu right now and i'll test It for awhile (again).

I played some music in Spotify + local about 2 hours at max volume level, no problems while playing It.

So I Can confirm I get this popping/crackling/distorsion just with notification sounds...
Maybe someother Can confirm if have same problem.

I have the same problem but for me it happen with only Spotify. Not ever and not in the same way. I believe.. I hope it would be a software's problem. Anyone?

If I play the same notification theme in music player at max volume it sounds fine.
So in my opinion this is a software issue.

I use MP3 files as notification sounds - could that be the issue? I will try with default notification sounds and feedback.
Also curious to hear if other users have same problem - it's quite irritating.

BTW - the ear speaker sounds fine.

Nope, i use default sound as notification sound.
Actually It crackle also with eBay notification sound.

I dont have this problem. I'm using MIUI stable. Does Ur phone connect to 4g network?

I use the weekly 12.29. No, my phone not connect to 4g because I do not have this option.

Mmmmh, do a twrp back up first then try C&D whipe. If It won't solve Ur problem, full wipe Ur phone.

Did u mind to flash stable rom?

No because the stable ROM has a previous version of MIUI and for this I must do a full wipe. I will do a cache and dalvik and eventually I will do a full wipe and install a "stable" rom. Thanks

Not yet. I have upgraded from 12.15 to 12.29 for this problem but nothing. If the 7.1.5 has not other problem I could upgrade to this version. Thanks

Actually xiaomi.eu 12.15 is the best rom I tryed so far... I flashed also 12.29 and 7.1.5 but didnt like them.

The problem isn't solved with stable... But is less. I think It could be caused by a driver or codec audio conflict btw apps and MIUI....

Mhmh the problem started from to 12.15. Now it is also present with 12.29. the last weekly seems not good. If like you say stable ROM do not resolve the problem I can do only the wipes. I hope in a soon upgrade. Have you got the same problem?

Well, i had It also with 6.12.8( crackling sound with notification) so i didnt downgrade more than this version.... So I dunno if previous version are ok.


Another thing, many ppl have similary problem with different apps, so this might be cause by MIUI that isnt fully optimized yet.

What i can say is: i flashed also china stable and china dev, but i had always the problem.

The strange thing is that with music player or Spotify or telegram, speaker work perfectly in all version i tried so far. Thats why i think there are some conflict...

I used for few hours cm 13, I had the problem also with It, but that was a porting, so if the problem affect the kernel, we are screwed up x

Not yet. This weekly seems to have some other problems. Are you sure that this weekly solves the problem?

I had the same issues when the phone first arrived with the stock chinese rom, heavy crackling on most sounds unless they were played from inside another app, even the ring tone.
Then I installed the xiaomi.eu rom about a month ago and the problem was almost gone, I still got crackling if I was accessing the UI and messing around but it was bearable.
Then the latest version completely solved the problem.
