I watched a video in a foreign language and installed random software that I had to shut down my anti-virus software for that was discussed in it. http://pcsuite.mi.com/ Hell. :) I suppose all the videos online purporting to remove the obligatory waiting period are various scams?

Man... this is some special kind of hell. :) OK. I disabled signature verification... I see the yellow mark Android under "other devices"... what drivers do I point it to? It won't accept the ones I d/led from Xiaomi.

Got a Mi account on the phone and same account on the tool. But it doesn't recognize the phone. Also, fastboot doesn't seem to recognize the device.... ?

Thanks piskr. I don't know how that doesn't appear in any of the tutorial's I've seen, text or video. Now ADB finds my phone, but fastboot does not.

I installed those and Windows tells me the above (no better drivers) if I try again.

In fastboot I get nothing and device manager shows the left side. (Right side is phone booted up and accepting files from Windows)

I have this all. :\ And yeah, when connecting the phone, there's a popup with "transfer files", "do nothing", and some other option (maybe transfer pics). I can see phone files from windows using explorer.

Where do I start cmd to type adb devices in? Fastboot devices (cmd in the mi unlock folder with fastboot in it) returns nothing with phone in fastboot. Thanks for trying to help!!

Already installed it seems. I installed the ones that came with the Mi Unlock software.

What's the right cable? I did not get one with the phone. If the phone is visible in Windows, any chance the drivers haven't been installed correctly?

Thank you. Currently I'm stuck not being able to unlock the phone; the MI Unlock software doesn't recognize my phone when it's in fastboot mode. Device Manager shows a connected but yellow exclamation mark "Android Device" even though I installed the drivers (windows 10). I think it's just that...
