MIUIdaemon - why not removing by xiaomi.eu

Deleting this app is no good idea because of strange issues (see link below). On my phone MIUIdaemon app is frozen - I didn't find any visible impact, only some complaints in logcat about missing performance measuring service. Freezing this app can be done with eg. TitaniumBackup, Link2SD or...

    Face Unlock

Yes, that's true. This behavoir comes with stock global ROMs from Xiaomi and with ROMs from here. Also I wonder why there are two active input devices running for FP sensor: "uinput-goodix" and "uinput-fpc" (see /proc/bus/input/devices) No idea whether it's a bug or a feature. I use it as a...

    Face Unlock

Potentially it's possible with rooted phone. I've modded my Redmi 5 Plus to map the fingerprint sensor to power button. As a side effect I can switch on power by touching FP sensor with *any* finger. An unregistered finger wakes up lock screen but doesn't unlock. A registered finger unlocks...

    Separated Ringtone and SMS

That isn't possible, but you can use custom sounds with different values of loudness. This technique is called ReplayGain. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ReplayGain Use the tool MP3Gain for .mp3 files and VorbisGain for .ogg files to set up internal loudness of your custom notification sound...

    can't register for xiaomi account...

That's true. Gmail is one of the rare cases that accept mail from Xiaomi but handle it as spam. Lots of European providers do not and reject emails (GMX, Web.de ...). So it''s best to try another provider and collect own mail addresses. That sucks...

    Unlock bootloader problem

The chinese message is: "The phone has not been used for the specified time and cannot be unlocked." You must wait for 72 hours to unlock after you bound your MI account to your device. http://en.miui.com/thread-4456547-1-1.html...

Invalid Redmi note 5 pro magisk problem

Maybe Magisk is in sleep mode? Start Magisk app first and then your app that requires root access. This has to be done only once until app is registered for root access.

    System-wide DNS setting

A good workaround is to install Blokada from f-droid ( not from PlayStore - this app is crippeled! ). https://f-droid.org/de/packages/org.blokada.alarm/ Blokada installs a local VPN to circumvent internal DNS with its own DNS settings and filtering. As a side effect you get rid of annoying...

BT headsets not displayed in headset settings

The equalizer isn't part of BT settings. But you can launch "DiracEqualizer" from start screen via button. With Nova Lauchner or some other apps it's possible to put a shortcut button on start screen to launch activities directly. I'm using Nova launcher...

BT headsets not displayed in headset settings

On my phone "headset setting" applies to headphones with wire. This is only working if a headphone is plugged in. Settings for bluetooth devices are in the bluetooth section. When your BT is connected click on '>' rightmost of your device . A new window opens with settings of your BT headset.

    New Multiple e-mail notification sounds

"Multiple notification" is a Google bug in Oreo. It seems that Google won't or can't fix it. The bug is caused by a second notification layer that Google puts over every app. This concept is broken by design. A lot of apps have to be redesigned for Oreo's notification bulls**t. The "per account...

New [mi 4c] Security Scan Can't Find Out Any Payment Risk.

There are many reasons why a "payment security check" can fail, even if smartphone is licensed and has passed Google's SafetyNet test. Sometimes there are crude heuristics in payment/gaming apps. PokemonGo is such an example. Those apps often produce false positive error messages. An unwanted...

MI 8 + Google Pay / Google play (Netflix) ROM Query

According to attached screenshot above it is official global ROM from Xiaomi: MIUI global 10.2.2.0 PEAMIXM https://en.miui.com/thread-5289843-1-1.html This ROM has SafetyNet certification but installed system has not. Therefore I suppose there could be a backdoor or trojan horse - or it's a...

Remove gapps safely Miui 10 / Redmi 5 Plus

You can't remove (delete) gapps without breaking SafetyNet seal. Even if you try to remount /system partition to write mode you will lose your certification. If you don't need the certification you can delete the unwanted .apk files. But be careful. First freeze unwanted apps and reboot to...

MI 8 + Google Pay / Google play (Netflix) ROM Query

Was phone really sold with open bootloader? That's strange because Xiaomi locks bootloader for more than a year. I can't believe that this is an original device from manufacturer. It looks like second hand device that someone else has unlocked (and possibly flashed with global ROM). BTW. Your...

Remove gapps safely Miui 10 / Redmi 5 Plus

You can "freeze" all Google apps without problems. This requires rooted phone and apps like eg. Link2SD or TitaniumBackup. This method does neither delete anything nor break your Google Pay certification in case you want to unfreeze gapps and reanimate Google.

MI 8 + Google Pay / Google play (Netflix) ROM Query

It seems that your phone is either not certified by Google or runs with manipulated ROM. Your Phone fails during SafetyNet test. You can proof Google's certification in PlayStore app -> Settings -> Play-Protect certification. The Xiaomi.eu ROM does fix the issue. I use lastest stable ROM from...

Facebook root backdoor in Xiaomi-Service-Framework module

Hello folks. I installed latest ROM (MIUI 10.2 STABLE RELEASE) on my Redmi 5 Plus and found a Facebook root backdoor in Xiaomi-Service-Framework module [com.xiaomi.xmsf]. You can verify this in a terminal with command: netstat -Wetup No root access is required to see the connections to...
