    For rooting you need to install Supersu.zip via TWRP. "SuperSU download" Root Checker for check if your Mi pad 2 is rooted: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.joeykrim.rootcheck

    Did you wiped all data? Try to hold power button for 10-20 seconds and see if something change. Try 2 times!

    You can try upgrade to 8 without wiping, but firstly make a backup via TWRP and then upgrade to 8!

    For stable you need to wait 1-3 months. They don't have a regular update frequency!

    If you upgrade from MIUI 7 to 8 you need to wipe all data, unless you want issues, go ahead :). Good luck!

    My Mi4 is not clicking xD. Anyway, try to remove the back cover and see if there is sth. Maybe is the back cover defective and you need to buy new back cover.
