Do we need to wipe or format any other partition apart from "data"?

If I update I have a similar problem in Xiaomi Mi8. When I tap on the notification, it opens whatsapp but I'm unable to write message. I need to close whatsapp and open it again.

Hello Apart from wiping the /data partition do we also need to format it? Do we need to wipe the cache, dalvik, system partitions too? Do we need to install DM Verity and "universal safety fixer"? Does it work with *no-support-for-this-app-on-this-forum*? Do we need to activate API2?

The more apps I install the less free space I have on those partitions.

What do you mean? The user doesn't use directly the system, data, cache... partitions but android does it automatically when you install apps and use them.

What are you using in order not to loose all your personal settings, pictures and installed apps whenever you flash new ROMs?

If I flash MIU10 EU... Can I flash MIU 9 global later if it doesn't work well on my Mi8? Or there is an antirollback system? Can that system be bypassed?
