@Killua.Zoldyck that is not the case, he is using older build I can see that by UI as I changed this screen layout in 22.2.9 @algnrandom what device and miui version? but i can guess your miui version is older than 22.2.9 so no fastboot support in updater, you gonna have to download manually...

It's fastboot type release issue that older Updater app does not fully recognize, that's why you are notified, but url is not valid (and because of all 20 mirrors are facing timeout app is not responding, it takes too long). This issue has been already fixed, but this time you need to download...

Update itself will not erase any data unless you choose it to yourself.

@Pilep1p next Friday before you download new update let me know about battery usage after whole week, 5% is not a lot, but i never reached more than 3%, so i will investigate it in case it would be necessary

@Pilep1p they all work in background based on android default behavior (including your custom settings), updater is system app that is not limited by user and it is only 'check service' that works in background, does it eat your battery? For me battery usage by Updater app is unnoticeable, 0%...

About Updater - how would you expect to get notifications about new version if there would be no service working in background checking that info?

Well you might as well reboot your phone to be 200% sure that service is re-iniciated.

Open Updater app once you clear it's data with Internet connection then you should no longer face this FC.

Download official stable for your mi9 extract vbmeta.img from it then flash it: fastboot --disable-verity --disable-verification flash vbmeta vbmeta.img

You can either restore 12.5 or 12.2 backup back on 12.5, but not the other way around.

TWRP backup from 12.5 to 12.2 - it will never work. Cloud or app such as titanium backup (paid and requires root) is the only way to go.
