Dev says no. Because Kate does not support chinese ROM. I'm sure it would be possible. Dev might not want to work on it.

You could try to open it and check if the connectors are all good. there's a good video on youtube for opening the device. but it's at your own risk. or try guarantee from the shop you bought it.

Pretty sure there is no Xiaomi Market in the GLOBAL ROM. Android takes RAM if available to make the whole experience feel more smoothely.

there are two different FP-sensors out there for the Redmi Note 3. One is FPC and the other Goodix. Maybe that's the difference here, too.

Couldn't you just add the modem driver from "Kate" to your ROM and everything is fine ? At least by the time TWRP supports Kate.

I'm fine with the global ROM. I just want root. So your situation is quite different from mine.

Does TWRP recognize your phone as "kate" ? I know you can use TWRP (+ SuperSu) to root "kate" but TWRP recognizes it as "kenzo" and you might have trouble installing "kate" ROMs. That's what I read at least.
