I recieved a message from updater-app that an update was available, even before I had found time to search or download it manually.

This means that you do not wipe anything. Just download the new ROM and install it. All of your apps and configuration will not be changed. A clean install means wiping and zich.

First you need to ask Xiaomi permission to unlock. Then wait the number of days required. After that you Will be able to unlock and proceed. That Will take about three days, I believe.

Patience, it takes a long time for uploading....

Are you changing Android version.... Read the first and second post in this thread. I changed MIUI 9 to 10, but kept the same Android version. No problem at all.

Right now I am on holliday. Internet speed is quite slow over here. Has nothing to do with the download servers. But ... I managed to download and have just completed the installation on my Redmi Note4x (Mido). Again my thanks and compliments to the EU team. Just hoping that you are not...

This is a known issue. I had to hold the button to download for about 15 seconds or more. Then the download started. Or else: try a manually download. Works for me as well.

I recognise what you are saying. It is a known thing. There are two options: Hold the button to download for about 15 seconds. Then the download should start. Or download manually. Make sure you download the correct ROM. You can read about this in the first and second post in this thread...

A known problem. Two options you could try. Hold the button to download for a longer time. On my Redmi Note4x about 15 seconds... Then my phone will start downloading. Or try downloading manually and install it yourself. Three dots right upper corner, choose the ROM you downloaded.

And, very important, the Mi8-users are facing Android 9 and its initial problems. So I can understand why there is so much talking about that device. Just wait untill other devices start getting Android 9.... Then those will be mentioned a lot. Just hope my Redmi Note 4x will get a new Android...

Just a question: I am using the Dutch language... When I choose restart, I get a screen with 3 icons. Only the middle one has a text (Herstarten). The top and lowest one only icon, no text or indication. Is it possible to add the correct text, like I have seen in the English version.

Yes, you can. But make a backup first and follow the steps in the initial message in this thread. That's how I was able to move from global rom to EU-rom about a year ago. Since that moment I download the weekly ROM's and install them. No idea how, but the EU team delivers great ROM's.
